Throughout Losar & the 14 Days of Miracles

Under the beautifully changing evening lights at the Mahabodhi Temple, during Losar and the Fourteen Days of Miracles, Venerable Sarah Thresher will graciously return to Root for the third consecutive year to lead the Losar Prayer Festival. This festival is dedicated to the swift return of our most precious Guru, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

Each evening at 5:00 pm with livestreaming via Root Institute’s YouTube channel (at one point not permitted by Mahabodhi Stupa management but reinstated), we will gather beneath the sacred Bodhi Tree for one hour to recite prayers and sutras dedicated to Rinpoche during this exceptionally powerful period for accumulating merit. For those attending in person, prayer books will be provided, and PDF versions are linked below for anyone wishing to perform the prayers in their own place.

Now in the third year since Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche showed the aspect of passing away, and nearly a year since His Holiness the Dalai Lama observed that Rinpoche has taken rebirth in Nepal, this is a crucial time for us as students to come together. By doing so, we can help clear obstacles to the swift recognition of Rinpoche’s reincarnation, so that he may continue to offer inconceivably vast benefit to beings as limitless as space.

During Losar, Root will also be leading a 100,000 water bowl offering at the Mahabodhi Temple. The schedule arranged so that participants can comfortably join both practices, with ample time for rest and leisure in between.

Please join us in these offerings, in celebration of and dedication to the boundless, supreme qualities of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche. May these practices become the cause for the swift recognition of the unmistaken reincarnation of our sublime spiritual guide.

Prayer books to download & print – for anyone wishing to do these prayers

Anyone in Bodhgaya is most welcome to join us under the bodhi tree!
